Job Title: Welder and Fabricator
Job Description
This role focuses on welding and fabrication work in a miscellaneous shop environment, primarily producing handrails, ladders, cages, and similar structural components. You will set up and operate welding equipment, interpret blueprints, and ensure high-quality welds on steel parts, including material up to 1" thick.
Responsibilities

Set up weld machines and adjust temperature and other settings based on product requirements and material thickness.

Read and interpret blueprints to fit up parts accurately according to print specifications.

Perform MIG, TIG, and flux core welding on handrails, ladders, cages, and other structural components in a production environment.

Operate an overhead crane as needed to move and position materials and assemblies safely.

Conduct basic weld inspections before proceeding to the next step of the fabrication process to ensure quality and accuracy.

Use grinders to clean up and finish welds as needed to meet quality and appearance standards.

Measure and verify dimensions using a tape measure and other basic tools to ensure proper assembly and fit.

Assist with general assembly and fabrication tasks related to structural components produced in the miscellaneous shop.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop safety practices and procedures throughout the shift.

Work on your feet for extended periods and complete assigned tasks during a 10-hour shift.
Essential Skills

Proven experience with MIG welding in a production or fabrication environment.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately for fabrication and assembly work.

Experience using grinders to clean up and finish welds.

Familiarity with TIG welding and flux core welding processes.

Ability to operate an overhead crane safely and effectively, or willingness to learn.

Strong blueprint reading skills to ensure precise fit-up of parts.

Ability to use a tape measure and basic hand tools to verify dimensions and assembly accuracy.

Capability to work on feet for a 10-hour shift in a shop environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working in a miscellaneous or structural steel shop environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean, well-lit weld shop housed in a modern building that is less than 10 years old. You will work primarily in the miscellaneous shop area, focusing on handrails, ladders, cages, and similar steel structures. The environment includes the use of welding machines (MIG, TIG, flux core), overhead cranes, grinders, and standard fabrication tools. Shifts are 10 hours, requiring extended periods on your feet in a shop setting, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and maintaining a tidy workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
