Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and efficient check-in process
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private plans, utilizing systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Collect and process payments through medical billing procedures, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and documentation review
- Maintain organized dental records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; handle appointment rescheduling and patient inquiries
- Assist with intake procedures, medical administrative support, and filing of medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or other EMR platforms
- Support clinic operations by managing office supplies, filing documents, and coordinating with dental staff on care plans and treatment schedules
Skills
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist in a clinical or dental office setting
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing processes
- Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and typing (including 10 key typing)
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while adhering to HIPAA standards
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and medical records management
- Prior clinic experience or healthcare administrative support background is preferred; familiarity with insurance verification processes for Medicare or private insurers is advantageous
