American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring Level I trauma experience and an active IL RN license.

Work in a 13-bed Surgical ICU within an acute care hospital setting
-
Care for post-surgical patients, including open abdomens, multi-system trauma, and endovascular cases
-
Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:2, ranging from 1:1 to 1:3
-
Responsible for titrating drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin
-
Responsible for reading and interpreting own telemetry strips with support from monitor techs
-
Support from charge nurse and 24/7 house supervisor, intensivists on-site 0700-1900 with tele-medicine coverage overnight
-
24/7 respiratory therapy support with vent, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment
-
Nurse aides/patient care techs on unit at a 1:10 ratio
-
12-hour day shifts scheduled 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
-
Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6-week period

Holiday coverage required every other holiday

No call or standby requirement
-
Floating required to lower level of care units, taking a full team assignment (3 patients on Stepdown or 5-6 patients in general medical)

Uses EPIC EMR system

Active IL RN license required
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required

Minimum 1 year of experience required

Level I trauma center experience required

ICU experience required
-
Negative drug screen required for all panels

Provide critical care nursing to post-surgical and multi-trauma ICU patients, including drip titration and hemodynamic monitoring
-
Unit-specific orientation includes 8 hours of EPIC and systems training, 8 hours with an educator, 4 hours of shadowing, and 12 hours with a preceptor on the unit

No specific scrub color or dress code requirements

Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local rate
