Job Title: Field Service Technician (Mechanical & Electrical)
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 12+ Months (Contract/Temp with the possibility of extension)
Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM)
Pay Range: $28/hr to $32/hr
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems. This role involves supporting maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair operations for complex equipment in a hands-on, onsite environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and comfortable working independently as well as with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Perform commissioning and support warranty operations for equipment and systems
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures
Conduct repairs using technical drawings, schematics, and circuit diagrams
Use diagnostic software and laptops to analyze system performance
Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
Document failures, repairs, and modifications accurately
Implement field modifications to improve product performance and quality
Provide onsite and remote technical support to customers
Handle parts replacement and return processes (RMA)
Operate hand tools, shop machinery, and testing equipment
Follow all safety standards, procedures, and company policies
Required Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on experience in maintenance, field service, or technical repair roles
Strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems
Experience using a Multi meter for diagnostics and troubleshooting
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
Familiarity with basic diagnostic or service-related software tools
Technical diploma, vocational training, or equivalent experience
Willingness to work onsite and travel as needed
Preferred Skills
Experience in industrial, manufacturing, transportation, or heavy equipment environments
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Ability to work independently in field conditions
Good communication and documentation skills
Experience supporting customers or field operations
