Job Duties:

Lead development and execution of multi-year and annual business plans for assigned Cancer Institute programs, translating strategic priorities into actionable plans, milestones, governance, and execution roadmaps, and adjusting course as needed to achieve intended outcomes.

Partner with physician leaders, medical directors, surgeons, AdventHealth Medical Group, and campus C-suite leaders to establish vision, align priorities, and execute clinical and operational strategies. Develop physician and advanced practice provider recruitment priorities and workforce plans in partnership with these stakeholders, maintain active oversight of recruitment progress, and align provider resources with market demand, access, capacity, program growth, and strategic priorities.

Oversee operational and financial performance across assigned programs, including volume, access, throughput, productivity, staffing, patient experience, engagement, quality, safety, physician satisfaction, and financial results, using clinical, operational, market, workforce, and financial data to identify trends and inform executive decisions.

Develop, monitor, and manage operating and capital budgets, evaluating financial performance and cost structures and taking appropriate action to improve stewardship and results.

Lead or participate in institute and subspecialty governance structures to ensure effective decision-making, accountability, and alignment with Cancer Institute goals, building consensus across complex stakeholder groups and managing conflict constructively in a matrix environment.

Develop, implement, and evaluate disease-specific programs and services, with particular emphasis on surgical oncology, to meet volume, growth, profitability, quality, access, and patient experience standards.

Serve as subject matter expert and key advisor for assigned Cancer Institute domains, advising physician, campus, division, and enterprise leaders on emerging trends and strategic direction.

Forecast clinical, market, technology, reimbursement, consumer, and industry trends to inform strategy, program direction, workforce planning, and investment decisions.

Develop and oversee business cases, pro formas, forecasts, value models, and return-on-investment analyses for new programs, expansions, staffing, technology, facilities, capital, and other strategic investments.

Develop and implement plans to address performance gaps, remove barriers, improve efficiency, and advance opportunities for program growth.

Champion integration of evidence-based practices, advanced analytics, digital health, emerging technologies, novel therapies, and innovative care models that improve outcomes, access, experience, and value.

Guide planning and adoption of technology, equipment, facilities, and other infrastructure required to support program strategy and growth, including assessment of clinical, operational, financial, and capacity implications.

Partner with research, academic, and physician leaders, as applicable to the assigned portfolio, to strengthen clinical research, innovation, and translation of evidence into clinical practice.

Partner with marketing, community outreach, and philanthropy, as applicable, to strengthen program visibility, market position, and growth.

Responsible for hiring, developing, engaging, retaining, and managing performance of qualified Institute leaders and team members through effective delegation, coaching, succession planning, and accountability.

Build sustainable programs, infrastructure, systems, relationships, and leadership capability that position assigned areas for continued success beyond individual initiatives or leaders.

Preferred Work Experience:

Prior surgical oncology or broader surgery leadership experience is strongly preferred, including demonstrated experience partnering with surgeons and leading surgical program strategy, growth, and/or operations [Preferred]

Previous oncology or cancer service line leadership experience, including experience within an NCI-designated cancer center, comprehensive cancer center, or comparable integrated cancer program [Preferred]

Experience leading cancer strategic planning, program development, or major strategic initiatives and facilitating high-level multidisciplinary decisions in a matrix environment [Preferred]
