JOB
These are full-time (Professionals) positions in the City’s Development Services Department, Permits and Inspections Division. Individuals in this position will ensure compliance with residential and commercial codes and city ordinances. Reporting relationship: Building Official.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Performs inspection of residential and commercial buildings; mechanical, electrical, plumbing; private infrastructure; change of occupant; and swimming pool inspections for compliance with City codes and ordinances;

Coordinates inspections with other City departments and utility operators for commercial building projects;

Conducts research; reviews construction plans and applications; reviews professional surveys;

Interacts with architects, engineers, developers, general contractors and property owners concerning plans, specifications and building code requirements; advises on relevant matters such as construction, repair methods and materials;

Meets with contractors and homeowners concerning plans, specifications and building code requirements;

Investigates citizen complaints concerning violation of city building codes and ordinances; makes independent judgments and sound recommendations based on findings;

Perform other related duties as assigned;

Subject to 24-hour recall.
