Job Overview
The Alander (a revamped 12-room vintage motel) and its in-house restaurant, North Star, are seeking an energetic and welcoming Front of House Coordinator. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for an exceptional dining and lodging experience. Your enthusiasm, organization, communication skills, and ability to manage guest flow will ensure smooth seating operations and foster guest satisfaction from the moment they arrive.
This position is split into two sections. It starts as a lunch service attendant (from noon to 3p) and switches to dinner host. Both facets of the role are tipped positions. Shifts start at 11:30a and can go until 8p with a 30 minute lunch break. Full or Part time positions available
Duties
- Greet guests with a friendly, positive attitude and provide a warm welcome upon arrival
- Handle phone calls and manage reservations & walk-in guest seating efficiently using the restaurant POS system, property management system, and guest communication platforms.
- Execute lunch counter service (ringing in food orders and delivering to tables)
- Assist guests with seating arrangements, answer questions about the menu or restaurant amenities, and provide directions as needed
- Coordinate with restaurant and motel staff to ensure a smooth service flow
- Uphold high standards of phone etiquette when taking reservations or answering inquiries
- Assist motel guests with registration and check-in.
- Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the host/server station areas, including menus and waiting areas
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a host/hostess or in food service is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for hospitality is essential
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests
- Experience working with Toast POS systems is a plus
- Excellent guest relations skills, including attentive listening and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, food service procedures, and hotel guest services is advantageous
- Professional phone etiquette and courteous demeanor at all times
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
