Summary: The Floor Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production activities within the roll shop, ensuring that operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality and performance standards. This position provides hands-on leadership to production personnel, coordinates with other departments, and ensures that all materials, drawings, and processes meet customer specifications and delivery schedules. The Floor Shift Supervisor serves as the key link between management and shop employees, driving communication, accountability, and operational excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Supervise and coordinate daily burn shop operations, ensuring production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met on schedule.
· Review and clarify customer and CAD drawings/prints, identifying discrepancies before, during, and after processing to ensure products meet exact specifications.
· Ensure proper interpretation and communication of job specifications, tolerances, and delivery commitments between office staff, production, inspection, quality control, and shipping departments.
· Direct production workforce and inform the shop foreman of any performance issues or deviations from established procedures, policies, and schedules.
· Assist production crews as needed to maintain workflow, resolve issues, and ensure deadlines are met.
· Review daily schedules and requirements for completion; communicate findings, progress, and challenges with the foreman and production teams.
· Evaluate and recommend process improvements, including changes in methods, schedules, and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity.
· Ensure all quality standards are upheld, maintaining the authority to reject substandard or nonconforming products.
· Coordinate multiple trades and activities within the burn shop to ensure seamless workflow and resource utilization.
· Maintain accurate and real-time job tracking updates (IP numbers) throughout the workday.
· Promote and enforce all company policies and programs, including Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Harassment, Code of Ethics, and EEOC compliance.
· Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, serviced, and stored at the end of each shift; coordinate with maintenance and safety personnel regarding repairs, LOTO procedures, and documentation.
· Monitor equipment performance and communicate repair or maintenance needs promptly via email to appropriate departments.
· Foster a positive and professional work atmosphere, maintaining clear communication with customers, co-workers, and supervisors/managers.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations.
· Collaborate closely with foremen and production teams to maintain open communication, effective scheduling, and accountability on the production floor.
· Support project planning and scheduling efforts, offering practical advice to assist with completing projects on time and within budget.
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support overall plant and production operations.

Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in steel fabrication or burn shop operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
· Strong ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and job specifications with attention to accuracy and detail.
· Knowledge of plasma and oxy-fuel cutting operations, material flow, and steel plate processing.
· Demonstrated experience in quality control and inspection procedures within a production environment.
· Proficient in equipment operation and safety practices, including burn tables, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
· Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and company safety programs.
· Basic computer skills for documentation, reporting, and communication.
