Reports to: Facilities Supervisor Primary
Function:
The Custodian II will consult/coordinate with the school Administration and/or Facilities Manager on the needs of the site and site custodial team; to maintain an attractive, sanitary, and hazard free facility by conducting routine cleaning duties and custodial maintenance; set up and clean up for events, activities, meetings, etc.; assist in strategies to minimize property damage, loss, and liability exposure.
Essential Job Functions:
? Work independently and maintain a schedule/routine with minimal supervision, and adjust routines/schedules from day to day based on emerging needs of the school
? Evaluate school facilities for repair needs and submit all custodial/facility work order requests
? Disseminate information to the site custodial team regarding cleaning schedules/routes, event/activity set up, and other necessary information needed to conduct custodial duties
? Inventory custodial supplies/equipment and report to Facilities Manager for ordering purposes
? Maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with administration, staff, teachers, students, and members of the community that may be on campus
? Maintain confidentiality with student, staff, and school information
? Utilize work order system to report items that need to be repaired and/or replaced
? Preserve the classroom/office arrangements in teacher and staff workspaces and be respectful of the supplies, paperwork, and other items that are stored in these spaces.
Examples of Duties:
? Clean school facilities (classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) o Put up/ take down Flag o Sweep, vacuum, scrub, wax, and polish floors, walkways, and other surfaces o Garbage collection and disposal (both indoors and outdoors) o Clean up spills and other messes made during the course of the school day o Clean and polish metal work, such as door handles and railings o Wash and disinfect restrooms and restock soap, paper towels and toilet paper dispensers o Clean words or drawing on buildings or property
? Move furniture and equipment
? Deliver items to classrooms or offices
? Minor furniture and equipment repair
? Perform custodial work upon request of administrators, staff, or teachers
? Set up, open and close school facilities for various community events and activities
? Checks and locks doors and windows and reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards
? Scheduled deep cleaning and detailing of facilities during school breaks
? Other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
? Minimum of 2 years prior job experience in custodial work in a school or institutional setting with satisfactory job performance or evaluation; references will be checked
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
? Understand and carry out oral and written directions
? Understand and follow a work schedule
? Perform a variety of levels of physical labor (stand, bend, twist, reach, grasp, climb, balance, kneel, crouch or squat, push, pull or drag; occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs)
? Safely use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
? Identify workplace hazards and/or unsafe conditions and take appropriate action to correct such including creating work orders; Adhere to safe work practices
Licenses, Certifications:
? Background check, Valid Government Identification
? Must pass custodial standard proficiency test and strength test
