Vac Truck Operator – Job Description
Position Summary
The Vac Truck Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining vacuum trucks to safely remove, transport, and dispose of non-hazardous and hazardous materials (liquids, sludge, and solids) from job sites. This role requires strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and company procedures.
Pay: $30 and up
Key Responsibilities

Operate vacuum trucks and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner

Perform industrial cleaning services such as hydro-excavation, tank cleaning, and line flushing

Load and unload waste materials using vacuum hoses and pumping systems

Transport materials to approved disposal or treatment facilities

Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure safe operating conditions

Perform routine maintenance on trucks (checking fluids, greasing, minor repairs)

Follow all DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations

Complete required documentation including logs, manifests, and service reports

Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, and customers on site
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A or B (required)

Tanker endorsement required

Previous experience operating vacuum trucks or similar heavy equipment (preferred)

Knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations

Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments
