Job Summary
Trades Exchange is hiring an experienced HVAC Technician Level 3 to perform maintenance and service for industrial HVAC and mechanical customers throughout the Memphis area.
This position is responsible for installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of industrial and commercial HVAC equipment. The technician will use advanced technical knowledge, service technology, and strong customer service skills to provide a professional experience for each customer.
This is an advanced technician position intended for candidates with extensive industrial HVAC service or industrial maintenance experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Diagnose problems within refrigeration circuits
- Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging
- Size and install refrigerant piping
- Read advanced wiring diagrams
- Troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits
- Diagnose heating-system problems using gas-pressure testing and other diagnostic equipment
- Perform combustion analysis on combustible heating systems
- Analyze combustion results and complete necessary repairs or adjustments
- Treat and control air for temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and distribution
- Install, maintain, and repair air-cooled systems
- Service water-cooled HVAC systems
- Service hot-water and chilled-water systems
- Service VAV systems
- Service steam-heating systems
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electric motors
- Service heating units and heat pumps
- Repair hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors
- Service light-commercial furnaces
- Service boilers and burners
- Repair intake and exhaust fans
- Service economizers and humidifiers
- Diagnose and repair capacity controls
- Service split systems
- Diagnose flame-safeguard controls
- Service air compressors and refrigerated air dryers
- Service packaged HVAC units
- Diagnose and service commercial HVAC controls
- Service low-pressure chillers
- Service water-cooled chillers
- Service computer-room air-conditioning systems
- Service self-contained water-cooled unitary equipment
- Complete service records and communicate findings professionally
- Work cooperatively with other technicians and skilled tradespeople
- Follow all safety policies, customer requirements, and service procedures
Education and Experience
- Universal EPA Certification required
- Minimum of 8 years of industrial HVAC service or industrial maintenance experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Advanced commercial or industrial HVAC diagnostic experience
- Strong understanding of refrigeration, heating, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with technicians and other trades

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Candidates must be able to:
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Sit, stand, walk, climb, and reach throughout the workday
- Reach above shoulder height
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Work from ladders, lifts, rooftops, and elevated areas
- Work indoors and outdoors
- Work in temperatures above 90°F or below 32°F
- Work in cramped, noisy, contaminated, or poorly lit environments
- Work around chemicals, hazardous equipment, and industrial machinery
- Follow applicable Safety Data Sheet requirements
- Drive or ride in a vehicle for two or more hours when required
