A Skilled Nursing Facility is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. This role focuses on providing comprehensive nutritional care to residents in a skilled nursing and long-term care setting, with an emphasis on geriatric nutrition, regulatory compliance, and resident-centered care.
The Registered Dietitian will be responsible for assessing residents’ nutritional needs, developing and monitoring individualized nutrition care plans, and collaborating closely with nursing, medical, and dietary teams to promote optimal health outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments upon admission and on an ongoing basis
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans in accordance with physician orders and resident needs
- Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and facility regulations related to nutrition services
- Provide oversight and guidance for enteral (tube) feeding, supplements, and specialized diets
- Identify and address nutritional risks, weight changes, and deficiencies
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, speech therapy, and dietary services to support resident care plans
- Participate in care plan meetings, quality assurance initiatives, and clinical audits
- Supervise and support dietary staff; provide education and in-service training as needed
- Educate residents and families on nutrition-related topics and therapeutic diets
- Stay current with best practices in geriatric nutrition and long-term care standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required
- Current licensure/certification as required by the State of Georgia
- Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or geriatric settings strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition, therapeutic diets, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
- Experience supervising or training dietary staff is a plus
