Position Overview:
- REQUIRED Licensure Status (One of the following is needed): Active and unrestricted California Physical Therapist Assistant License. Or official Physical Therapist Assistant License Applicant (PTALA)
- Part-Time 20-25 hours/week (M-F 8am-12pm), with potential to transition into a full-time position.
- Pay negotiable depending on experience.
- Preference for candidates who are bilingual English/Spanish speakers.
- New graduates with approved PTALA status are welcome to apply.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of physical therapy services for patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions in an outpatient setting
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with an interdisciplinary team regarding patient care and progress within the Functional Restoration Program
- Implement established treatment plans and progress therapeutic exercises and activities under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist
- Provide skilled patient care, including therapeutic exercise progression, patient education, manual therapy, and application of therapeutic modalities as appropriate
- Monitor and communicate significant changes, concerns, or recommendations to the physical therapist
- Accurately document treatment interventions, patient response, and progress in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.
- Licensure Status (One of the following is required): Active and unrestricted California Physical Therapist Assistant License. Or official Physical Therapist Assistant License Applicant (PTALA) status granted by the Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC). Note: Candidates must possess their official PTBC approval letter prior to treating patients and will practice under the direct, on-site supervision of a licensed PT.
- Experience & Skills: Prior experience or a strong interest in workers' compensation, personal injury, or chronic pain rehabilitation is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of physical rehabilitation, functional movement, and tissue healing phases.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work seamlessly within a multi-specialty medical team and build rapport with diverse patient populations.
- Proficiency in EMR software and strong attention to detail regarding legal/medical documentation.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, bend, and safely assist/transfer patients (frequently lifting up to 50 lbs) throughout your shift.
