Job Summary
The Dairy Associate plays a crucial role in the daily operations of a dairy farm, ensuring the health and productivity of the herd while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. This position involves a variety of tasks related to animal care, equipment maintenance, and farm management. The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture and a strong commitment to animal welfare. We are looking for employees to join our growing operation. We currently are looking for Dairy Assistants that will work on our Otto NC Dairy.
Duties
- Care for dairy animals, including feeding and delivery of feed and replacements to the herd and calves.
- Maintain cleanliness in barns and milking areas to promote a healthy environment for livestock.
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of dairy equipment, ensuring all machinery is in good working order including service and maintenance of VMS Robotic Milkers.
- Calm handling of all livestock.
- Operation of manure management systems.
- Fence-line maintenance.
- Operation and service of RTV's, Skid Steer, and various tractors.
- Engage in ongoing learning about dairy farming techniques to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Assist in herd management including record keeping, health checks and necessary treatments directed by Dairy Manager.
- Assist with various Dairy Projects and Farming operations as needed.
Skills
- Experience with animal handling, demonstrating compassion and understanding of livestock needs.
- Have a strong desire to learn.
- Follow SOP's and protocols for working with animals, servicing equipment and handling equipment.
- Must have a valid Drivers License
- Take pride in caring for animals and the way things look.
- Have a strong desire to learn while being part of a team and watching things grow (yourself, the herd, and the crops)
- Take pride in learning and the way things look
Hours:
6 days a week, Monday - Friday, alternating Saturday/Sunday, with an average of 1 weekend off every month
8-10 hours per day, Typical day starting at 6am, Lunch from 12 noon- 12:30, off by 4:30 pm
PAY:
Hourly rate start at $16.50 - $18.00/hr ($51,480 -$56,160 annually)
