EASEL Animal Rescue League is seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team on a part-time basis. Position Overview
The Veterinary Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of shelter and foster animals. In this role, you will work closely with our contracted veterinarians and help maintain our in-house diagnostic laboratory while supporting medical care for animals in the shelter, foster network, and community programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and treatments
- Safely restrain animals during medical appointments
- Administer vaccines, medications, and routine treatments
- Collect diagnostic samples including fecal, blood, and urine specimens
- Maintain accurate medical records using the shelter’s management software
- Support operation of in-house laboratory equipment, including the IDEXX Catalyst One Analyzer
- Assist with care for animals in the shelter as well as those in foster homes
- Provide support to adopters, foster guardians, and low-income community residents through EASEL’s programs
- Maintain a safe and clean medical environment while following OSHA guidelines for handling chemicals and materials
Schedule & Work Environment
- Part-time (minimum 20 hours per week)
- One evening shift per week required (no later than 8:00 PM)
- No overnight shifts

Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills
- Familiarity with animal anatomy, common diseases, and veterinary medications
- Excellent communication, math, and computer skills
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations
- Experience with diagnostic sampling and laboratory procedures preferred
