Coastal Health is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Orthopedic Department. This position plays a vital role in supporting physicians and advanced practice providers while delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced specialty practice. Orthopedic experience is preferred, but motivated candidates with strong clinical skills and a passion for patient care are encouraged to apply.

Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints

Prepare patients for orthopedic examinations and procedures

Assist providers with injections, splinting, casting, brace fittings, and other in-office procedures

Support post-operative care, wound care, dressing changes, and patient education

Perform EKGs, venipuncture, specimen collection, and medication administration as directed

Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms

Document patient information accurately within the EMR system

Greet and check in patients while providing outstanding customer service

Verify insurance information and update patient demographics

Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care

Process referrals and assist with imaging coordination (X-ray, MRI, CT)

Maintain patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance

Assist with authorizations, billing support, and other office functions as needed

High School Diploma or GED required
-
Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program required

CMA, RMA, or equivalent certification preferred

Current CPR certification required

Minimum 1–3 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred

Orthopedic, sports medicine, podiatry, or surgical specialty experience strongly preferred

Experience with Athena EMR is a plus
