Position Summary
The Director of Teaching, Learning, and Continuous Improvement provides leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, and instructional innovation. The Director collaborates with school and district leaders to strengthen Tier I instruction, improve student achievement, promote innovative teaching practices, and ensure equitable, rigorous learning experiences aligned with the district's strategic priorities.
Essential Duties

Leads the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of district curriculum, instructional frameworks, and assessments aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards.

Provides leadership for instructional improvement initiatives that strengthen Tier I instruction, increase student achievement, and support school improvement efforts.

Collaborates with principals and district leaders to analyze academic data, identify instructional priorities, and implement evidence-based strategies that improve teaching and learning.

Designs, coordinates, and evaluates district professional learning to build instructional capacity among teachers and school leaders.

Leads district initiatives related to instructional innovation, educational technology, digital learning, and the responsible integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.

Coordinates curriculum review cycles, instructional resource adoption, and assessment systems to ensure alignment, rigor, and consistency across schools.

Supports the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) through data-informed instructional planning and progress monitoring.

Monitors the implementation and effectiveness of instructional programs through classroom observations, learning walks, data analysis, and collaboration with school leaders.

Researches emerging educational practices, instructional models, and state and federal initiatives to recommend improvements that enhance student learning.

Collaborates with Special Education, Career and Technical Education, Pupil Services, and other departments to ensure equitable access to high-quality instruction.

Prepares reports, presentations, and recommendations for district leadership and the Receiver regarding instructional initiatives and student performance.

Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and district policies related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
Qualifications:
Education
-
Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field required.

Doctorate preferred.
Certification
-
Pennsylvania Principal Certificate required.

Pennsylvania Letter of Eligibility or Superintendent Letter of Eligibility preferred.
Experience
-
Minimum of five (5) years of successful administrative experience.

Demonstrated experience leading curriculum, instruction, assessment, or professional learning initiatives.

Experience using student achievement data to drive instructional improvement.
-
District-level leadership experience preferred.
