THE OPPORTUNITY
The Finance Director serves as a strategic partner to the CEO and a core member of the leadership team, with broad responsibility for the financial health, business operations, and long-range planning of a thriving school and camp.
This is a rare opportunity for a builder — someone who wants to leave their mark on a growing organization by strengthening its financial and operational foundation. You'll improve systems, create scalable processes, and deliver the kind of clear, actionable information that empowers leaders to make their best decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead all financial operations — budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and monthly and annual financial reporting
- Prepare accurate, timely financial dashboards and reports to support CEO and leadership decision-making
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance; coordinate annual audit and tax filings
- Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, and business office operations
- Supervise administrative staff; manage vendor relationships and contracts
- Design and implement efficient workflows, internal controls, and documentation that strengthen organizational capacity
- Partner with the CEO on long-range financial planning and organizational strategy
- Foster a culture of professionalism, stewardship, and continuous improvement
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Solid working knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and payroll operations
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
- Demonstrated success improving financial systems and organizational processes
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
Preferred:
- Experience in independent schools, camps, or other education or youth-serving organizations
- Experience supervising staff and leading organizational change
- Familiarity with seasonal program operations and the financial rhythms they create
