Position Overview
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting and overseeing both Front of House and Back of House operations to ensure a smooth, safe, and exceptional experience for our daycare, boarding, spa, and grooming services. This position serves as the bridge between departments, helping keep all aspects of the business running efficiently while supporting the team, dogs, and pet parents.
Primary Qualities for Success
- Previous experience working in a Dog Daycare, Boarding and Grooming setting is highly preferred. (Starting pay rate is dependent upon relevant management and industry experience.)
- Leads by example with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude, especially when under pressure.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities at once.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Understands the importance of accountability and takes ownership of responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Communicates effectively with team members, pet parents, and leadership.
- Comfortable making decisions independently while knowing when to escalate concerns.
Front of House Responsibilities
- Support Front Desk Associates in providing an exceptional pet parent experience, including assisting with billing, scheduling, memberships, daycare enrollments, and customer concerns.
- Ensure Front Desk tasks are completed accurately and on time, including emails, voicemails, lead follow-up, appointment scheduling, and daily administrative duties.
- Monitor daycare capacity, reservations, and scheduling to help balance operational needs, staffing levels, and pet parent demand.
- Coordinate with grooming and spa staff to ensure services remain on schedule and any issues are proactively addressed.
- Assisting with boarding pup check in process and Meet & Greet Process.
Back of House Responsibilities
- This is a hands-on leadership role. The Assistant Store Manager is expected to actively support playroom operations by opening rooms, working as a coach when needed, monitoring dog interactions, and assisting with cleaning and operational tasks throughout the day.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient operating environment while ensuring proper room balance, break management, and adherence to all Dogtopia policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Actively manage labor and staffing levels based on business needs, occupancy, and operational demands.
- Assist with onboarding, training, coaching, and development of team members, including conducting one-on-one conversations regarding performance, accountability, protocols, and culture.
- Communicate, document, and assist with pet parent concerns, employee concerns, dog injuries, illnesses, behavioral incidents, and other operational issues. Support incident investigations and review camera footage as needed.
- Create, implement, and manage Behavior Modification Plans for dogs displaying unwanted behaviors and work with the team to ensure consistent execution.
- Plan and help lead daily shift huddles while contributing ideas, feedback, and solutions during leadership meetings.
- Manage facility inventory and supplies while ensuring equipment, building systems, and operational assets are maintained according to maintenance schedules and manufacturer recommendations. Promptly communicate any issues requiring attention.
- Ensure proper use of cleaning products and sanitation procedures to maintain facility cleanliness, safety, and cost control.
Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
