Duties
- Review and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine project scope and requirements
- Calculate material costs, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes to develop comprehensive estimates
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure estimates meet project specifications and safety regulations
- Conduct site visits to assess logistical considerations, site conditions, and potential challenges such as heavy lifting or manual handling needs
- Ensure all estimates incorporate OSHA safety standards, construction workplace safety regulations, and implementation of respiratory protection measures
- Prepare detailed bid proposals that clearly outline costs, timelines, and safety procedures
- Assist in the procurement process by sourcing materials and negotiating with suppliers to optimize costs while adhering to safety guidelines
Experience
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or similar role within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and understanding construction plans
- Familiarity with asphalt, concrete, pipe & utility work is required.
- Solid understanding of construction workplace safety regulations including OSHA standards
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with teams and convey technical information clearly
