Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately while adhering to hospital protocols and safety standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy plans for diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and trauma cases.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate medication regimens, considering physiology, anatomy, and medical history.
- Manage IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding in critical care settings such as ICU and PICU.
- Provide expert guidance on pain management, acute care, and emergency room medication administration.
- Monitor patient responses to therapy, adjusting medications as needed to ensure efficacy and safety.
- Educate patients and staff on medication use, potential side effects, and drug interactions to promote safe patient service and care.
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Extensive hospital experience with a focus on managed care, hospital medicine, and Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Proven expertise in critical care environments such as ICU, PICU, or emergency rooms with experience in acute pain management and emergency response.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology principles relevant to hospital medicine.
- Demonstrated clinical pharmacy experience with post-residency or post-residency equivalent training preferred.
- Hands-on experience with aseptic technique, IV infusion preparation, and medication administration protocols.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver compassionate care.
