Job Overview
SHA Ops is seeking a highly motivated, analytical, technologically capable, and adaptable HSE Performance Analyst to work directly with our HSE Manager, executive leadership team, and offshore operations personnel.
This role is designed for someone who wants to do more than simply compile safety statistics. The HSE Performance Analyst will help SHA Ops collect, review, validate, analyze, and communicate safety information so that our HSE Manager and leadership team can better understand what is happening in the field, identify emerging risks and trends, and continuously improve the safety of our operations.
The individual will serve as an analytical, technical, and project resource to the HSE Manager. Responsibilities will range from analyzing safety data and developing executive-level presentations to supporting HSE initiatives, improving reporting systems, interacting with offshore personnel, implementing new technology, and taking ownership of special HSE projects.
We are looking for someone who is hungry to learn, highly computer literate, flexible, resourceful, and eager to take on responsibility. The ideal candidate will be comfortable moving between detailed analytical work, executive-level presentations, interaction with offshore personnel, and unfamiliar special projects.
This position provides significant exposure to SHA Ops' HSE Manager, offshore operations, and C-suite leadership and is an opportunity for someone who wants to be coached, develop quickly, and become increasingly valuable to the organization.
Duties
- Safety Data, Screening & Trend Analysis
- Collect, organize, review, clean, and analyze HSE data from offshore operations, contractors, projects, and other applicable sources.
Safety Presentations & Executive Communication
- Develop professional, executive-quality PowerPoint presentations for safety meetings, leadership reviews, client meetings, project kickoffs, and HSE initiatives.
- Transform safety data, trends, incidents, observations, and lessons learned into clear and visually compelling presentations.
- Work closely with the HSE Manager to develop recurring monthly, quarterly, project-specific, and executive safety-performance presentations.
- Prepare safety materials for project kickoffs, safety stand-downs, lessons learned, safety alerts, targeted campaigns, and other HSE initiatives.
- Develop charts, graphs, dashboards, graphics, and other visualizations that make complex HSE information easy to understand.
- Tailor HSE communications for different audiences, including offshore personnel, project managers, executives, contractors, and clients.
- Assist the HSE Manager and executive leadership with preparation for important internal and client HSE meetings.
- Continually improve the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of SHA Ops' HSE presentations and communications.
- Help translate complex information into a concise management narrative: what happened, what the data is telling us, why it matters, and what actions should be considered.
Technology, Reporting & Analytics
- Build and maintain advanced Excel-based analytical tools, trackers, databases, reports, and management dashboards.
- Develop and improve Power BI dashboards and other business-intelligence tools for HSE performance monitoring and trend analysis.
- Utilize SharePoint and Microsoft 365 to improve HSE document management, reporting, collaboration, data organization, and workflows.
- Explore and implement AI tools and automation technologies that can improve safety-data analysis, reporting, document review, presentation development, trend identification, and administrative efficiency.
- Assist in developing automated or semi-automated processes for collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting HSE information.
- Evaluate new software and technologies that could improve SHA Ops' ability to collect, analyze, communicate, or act upon safety information.
- Quickly learn unfamiliar software, reporting systems, databases, and analytical tools as organizational needs evolve.
- Proactively identify opportunities where better technology, automation, data organization, or reporting systems could improve HSE performance or efficiency.
HSE Programs & Special Projects
- Work directly with the HSE Manager to support company HSE programs, initiatives, policies, and improvement efforts.
- Support the HSE Manager on special projects, strategic initiatives, and emerging HSE priorities.
- Take ownership of assigned HSE projects from initial problem definition through research, analysis, implementation, tracking, and closeout.
- Be willing to step outside routine responsibilities and support whatever HSE priority is most important to the organization at the time.
- Assist with the development and improvement of HSE programs, procedures, systems, training materials, reporting processes, and management tools.
- Use safety data and field feedback to identify opportunities to improve procedures, training, communications, JSAs, and operational controls.
- Assist in developing targeted safety initiatives in response to identified trends or recurring hazards.
- Track corrective and preventive actions and help ensure identified issues are driven through completion.
- Monitor implemented safety initiatives to help determine whether they are producing measurable improvement.
- Support incident investigations, root-cause analyses, lessons learned, and corrective-action development as requested by the HSE Manager.
- Assist with HSE audits, assessments, readiness reviews, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Research unfamiliar HSE topics, technologies, industry practices, or operational issues and develop concise findings for the HSE Manager and leadership.
- Work across HSE, operations, project management, engineering, logistics, and leadership to help drive HSE initiatives through completion.
Offshore & Operational Interface
- Maintain regular communication with offshore personnel to understand the operational context behind reported safety information.
- Work with offshore supervisors, Persons-in-Charge, project personnel, contractors, and HSE representatives to clarify observations, incidents, hazards, and field conditions.
- Develop a practical understanding of offshore operations sufficient to recognize when safety information may indicate a meaningful operational risk.
- Participate in project safety meetings, readiness reviews, incident reviews, and other operational discussions as appropriate.
- Periodically travel offshore or to project locations when required to gain firsthand understanding of operations, personnel, work activities, and safety challenges.
- Build strong working relationships with offshore teams so that safety reporting is viewed as a tool for improving operations rather than simply measuring them.
- Work collaboratively with project management, operations, engineering, logistics, and other functions to support safe project execution.
- Review incoming safety information for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and clarity before it is incorporated into company reporting and analysis.
- Screen safety observations and reports to help ensure information is properly categorized, understandable, and useful for analysis.
- Follow up with offshore personnel, project teams, contractors, and supervisors to clarify incomplete, inconsistent, or potentially inaccurate information.
- Analyze safety observations, near misses, incidents, injuries, Stop Work Authority events, hazard reports, corrective actions, and other HSE information.
- Track and analyze leading and lagging safety indicators to identify changes in safety performance.
- Analyze metrics such as TRIR, DART, LTIR, severity rates, incident frequency, safety observations, near misses, corrective-action closure, training completion, and other relevant HSE KPIs.
- Identify recurring hazards, behaviors, activities, contractors, work scopes, locations, or operational conditions associated with elevated risk.
- Look beyond headline metrics to identify underlying patterns, correlations, and emerging risks that may not be immediately obvious.
- Compare safety performance across projects, contractors, offshore locations, work scopes, and time periods where appropriate.
- Help distinguish meaningful safety trends from normal variation, inconsistent reporting, or incomplete data.
- Escalate significant findings, inconsistencies, or emerging risks to the HSE Manager and appropriate leadership.
- Help leadership answer the fundamental question: What is our safety data telling us, and what should we do about it?
Skills

- Is highly computer literate and comfortable learning and working across multiple software platforms.
- Learns new technologies, software, analytical methods, and operational concepts quickly.
- Is comfortable being handed an unfamiliar or ambiguous problem and figuring out how to move it forward.
- Is naturally curious and willing to investigate why something happened, rather than simply recording that it happened.
- Is comfortable working with large amounts of data and identifying patterns, inconsistencies, and trends.
- Can take a messy or poorly structured dataset and determine how to organize, validate, analyze, and communicate it.
- Has strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Is willing to question data when something does not make sense and follow up until the underlying facts are understood.
- Can turn complicated information into clear, concise, and professional presentations.
- Has excellent attention to detail and takes data accuracy seriously.
- Thinks proactively about how technology, AI, automation, and better systems can improve the way work is performed.
- Is flexible and comfortable shifting between data analysis, presentations, field coordination, research, technology, and special projects.
- Has a "no task is beneath me" mentality and is willing to help wherever needed to support the HSE team and organization.
- Demonstrates initiative by identifying problems and opportunities rather than waiting to be told what to work on.
- Takes ownership of assignments and follows them through to completion.
- Is comfortable interacting with both offshore field personnel and senior executives.
- Is highly coachable and actively wants feedback, mentorship, and development from the HSE Manager and executive leadership.
- Is ambitious and interested in growing their responsibilities as they demonstrate capability and judgment.
- Can commit to at least 20 hours per week, with flexibility to support additional hours as project and business needs evolve.
