Duties
- Provide advanced life support and critical care interventions during emergency responses, including airway management, medication administration, and injection techniques.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiology evaluations to determine immediate medical needs.
- Operate and maintain medical equipment (DME), ensuring proper aseptic techniques and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage triage processes efficiently at the scene and during transport to prioritize patient needs based on severity and urgency.
- Perform venipuncture for blood draws or medication delivery while maintaining strict sterile procedures.
- Transport patients safely from the scene to hospitals, including Level I Trauma Centers and Level II trauma centers, ensuring continuous monitoring of vital signs and condition stability.
- Collaborate closely with hospital staff, emergency room teams, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth patient handoffs and ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- Valid EMT certification with experience in emergency medicine; additional paramedic licensure preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology relevant to emergency medicine.
- Hands-on experience in airway management techniques such as intubation and ventilation support.
- Ability to perform physical examinations, vital sign monitoring, venipuncture, and medication administration accurately under pressure.
- Experience with critical care transport operations in diverse environments; familiarity with heavy lifting and driving emergency vehicles safely is essential.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with a calm demeanor in urgent situations; ability to work effectively as part of a high-performing team.
