Director of OperationsA Rare Opportunity to Lead a Growing, Multi-Site Dental Group
We're a high-performing group of four practices—two pediatric and two orthodontic—serving families across Santa Barbara and Goleta. We're looking for a Director of Operations who wants to help us grow: someone who thinks like an owner, builds systems that scale, and turns strategy into measurable results.
This is not a "keep the lights on" operations role. It's a seat at the table during an exciting growth phase for the organization—and the right leader will have meaningful influence on how we grow, who we hire, and what this group looks like in the years ahead.
Position Summary
The Director of Operations provides strategic and operational leadership across all four practices, with three primary mandates: building and scaling systems, driving accountability across all locations, and improving financial performance. You'll ensure alignment, consistency, and efficiency across offices while providing high-level oversight of payroll, HR, and our external marketing partners.
You'll lead through systems, leaders, and accountability—not by doing the day-to-day work yourself. If you're a builder who loves turning chaos into clean operations and mentoring managers into real leaders, this is your kind of seat.
What Success Looks Like
- Standardized, documented systems and SOPs consistently followed across every location
- Office managers and department leaders operating with clear accountability and measurable outcomes
- Improving bottom-line performance and margin at every practice
- Clean, reliable execution of core operations—payroll, HR, compliance, and workflows—without ownership having to step in
- KPIs tracked, reviewed, and acted on consistently across all four offices
- Sustained, measurable growth in new patient acquisition across all locations
- Marketing spend producing clear, trackable ROI
Key Responsibilities
- Lead operational strategy and execution across all four practices
- Build, standardize, and scale systems, workflows, and SOPs across all offices
- Drive a culture of accountability—ensuring standards are set, measured, and followed at every level
- Develop office managers and department leaders into strong, accountable operators
- Monitor and improve financial performance, profitability, and KPIs across locations
- Identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and cost control
- Oversee payroll and HR functions at a leadership level (execution is delegated)
- Provide oversight of external marketing partners—holding them accountable to performance and alignment with our brand
- Support new patient growth through referral pipelines, community events, and partnerships
- Partner directly with ownership on strategic initiatives and expansion efforts
Who We're Looking For
- Proven multi-site operations leadership (dental, medical, veterinary, or other multi-location service businesses all welcome)
- Strong command of financial performance, KPIs, and the levers that actually move profitability
- Demonstrated ability to build systems and SOPs that hold up across multiple locations
- Track record of leading leaders and creating real accountability—not just managing tasks
- Experience overseeing HR, payroll, and external vendors at a leadership level
- Strategic, outcomes-oriented, and genuinely comfortable being measured on results
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary with meaningful performance-based incentives tied to growth and profitability
- Health benefits and paid time off
- Clear path for expanded leadership scope as the group continues to grow
- A seat at the strategy table, not just the execution table
- A fast-paced, high-performance environment where good work gets noticed
Why This Role Is Different
Most operations roles in healthcare are reactive—putting out fires, fixing broken systems, and managing up. This one is proactive. You'll inherit a group that's already performing, work alongside ownership that's clear about where it's going, and have the authority and runway to build something that scales. If you've wanted to be part of a real growth story from the inside, this is it.
If you're a builder who drives results, raises the bar, and wants to help lead a growing dental group into its next chapter—we want to hear from you. Apply today and tell us about a time you built a system that held, held a team accountable to standards, or meaningfully improved a P&L. Specifics matter.
