Role Summary: The Lead Technician is pivotal in managing hospital accounts, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and overseeing day-to-day operations at one or more hospitals or locations. This position reports to the Account Supervisor (or Account Manager if no Account Supervisor), and acts as their backup as needed, including coverage for time off. In addition to performing duties of a technician, this role involves supporting the Supervisor/Manager with responsibilities, including scheduling, compliance, supervising a team of Surgical Solutions Technicians, and managing performance, while serving as an integral member of the operating room and sterile processing teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operating Room Support

Pre-Operative Setup
-
Ensure all video and surgical equipment is functioning properly.

Arrange monitors and equipment per surgeon preferences.

Intra-Operative Support
-
Verify all necessary equipment is properly connected and operational.

Address supply issues and respond promptly to OR staff requests.
-
Post-Operative Turnover
-
Gather and inventory instruments and equipment for cleaning and sterilization.
Endoscopy
-
Follow each manufacturer’s instructions for use (IFU) to complete the manual endoscope cleaning, leak testing, and liquid chemical sterilization or high-level disinfection needed for each endoscope.
Sterile Processing Department (SPD)
-
Manually clean instruments and equipment of contaminants. Remove waste matter and prepares and packs decontaminated supplies for sterilization. Follow proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.

Maintain records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
Materials Management
-
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and alerts management should additional supplies need to be ordered.
Instrument and Equipment Management
-
Maintain high standards for decontamination, inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments.

Manage laparoscopic equipment, including performing routine maintenance, tray audits, and coordinating repairs for instruments and scopes.
Professional Conduct and Availability

Deliver consistent, high-quality service while maintaining professional relationships with OR staff.

Ensure punctuality and flexibility, including availability for on-call and rotational shifts (weekdays, weekends, and holidays).
Technology Utilization

Learn and effectively use all technologies as outlined in the company’s Technology Policy.

Perform daily operations within the Surgical Cost Management Platform (SCMP), including entering case data, assigning tasks, and validating accuracy.

Manage site-specific data revisions and ensure team adoption of digital tools.

Act as designated SCMP site lead backup.

If applicable, utilize company phone and/or laptop to login to company systems as required, including but not limited to ADP, Outlook, Concur, Slack, and SCMP.
Leadership Responsibilities
-
Supervise, train, and manage a team of Surgical Solutions Technicians, ensuring high-quality performance and adherence to company values.
-
Conduct interviews, performance evaluations, and administer disciplinary actions as needed. Support with completing new hire preceptor documentation.

Schedule shifts, manage timekeeping, and monitor overtime to optimize efficiency.
-
Foster a team environment built on dignity, respect, and integrity.
-
Hold regular team meetings to ensure effective communication and feedback. Lead PM team huddles.
Administration & Operations:
-
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned hospitals, meeting regularly with OR directors and key staff to resolve issues and improve services.

Maintain organized personnel files, credentials, and compliance with state and facility requirements.

Promote certification and training opportunities for team members.

Order supplies, manage inventory, and ensure accurate billing and reporting.
Other Responsibilities

Perform all other duties as assigned by managers to support the efficient operation of the team and hospital.

Management and responsibility of company property as assigned.

Loss or damage of company property may result in repayment fees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Education: High school diploma/GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Certifications:
-
Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) required.

Certified Endoscope Reprocessing certification (CER) preferred.

Experience:
-
1-3 years in the Operating Room or Sterile Processing Department. Frontline supervisory experience preferred.

Availability for 24/7 hospital coverage, including rotational shifts on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This role is paid on and hourly bases at a rate of $28.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
