About Us
Chica & the Don is a high-energy Latin restaurant focused on hospitality, cleanliness, and exceptional guest experiences. We’re looking for a dependable, hardworking Opening Porter to help prepare the restaurant each morning and ensure the space is clean, stocked, and service-ready.
This role is essential to keeping the restaurant running smoothly and maintaining high cleanliness standards across the front and back of house.
Responsibilities
- The Opening Porter is responsible for opening and preparing the restaurant before service, including:
Front of House Cleaning & Setup
- Clean and maintain restaurant entrance, windows, and guest-facing areas
- Sweep and mop dining room floors, including under seating areas
- Wipe and sanitize tables, chairs, banquettes, doors, and high-touch surfaces
- Empty and re-line trash and recycling bins
- Restock guest bathroom supplies and maintain cleanliness standards
Bathroom Maintenance
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect guest and employee bathrooms
- Restock toilet paper, soap, paper towels, and cleaning supplies
- Clean mirrors, sinks, toilets, trash bins, and floors
Bar & Service Areas
- Clean bar tops, mats, ledges, and surrounding floors
- Maintain sanitation supplies and service station cleanliness
- Ensure sanitizer wipes and cleaning materials are stocked
Kitchen & Back of House Support
- Sweep and mop kitchen, prep, dish, and utility areas
- Clean and sanitize floor mats
- Empty and re-line BOH trash bins
- Assist with organizing pans, plates, ramekins, and supplies
- Help maintain clean and organized prep and storage spaces
Storage & Organization
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) food rotation standards
- Ensure products are labeled, dated, and organized
- Remove expired or improperly stored products when necessary
Dish Area & Utility
- Start dishwasher and ensure chemicals are stocked
- Organize dish racks and put away clean dishes
- Maintain a clean and functional dish station
Inventory & Supplies
Monitor and communicate low inventory of:
- Soap & paper products
- Gloves
- Trash bags
- Sanitizing supplies
- Mop heads
- Bathroom and kitchen essentials
Experience
- Previous restaurant porter, janitorial, dishwasher, or maintenance experience preferred
- Able to work independently and stay organized
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay on your feet for extended periods
- Reliable transportation and punctuality required
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environment
