We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly organized Back Office Lead / Back Office Manager to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions (RDAEF) who is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and helping create an exceptional patient experience.
Position Overview
The Back Office Lead / Manager serves as the clinical and operational leader of the back-office team. This individual will work closely with the doctor, office manager, and dental assistants to ensure smooth daily operations, exceptional patient care, and efficient clinical workflows.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and support the back office team
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new team members
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture
- Conduct ongoing coaching and performance support
- Ensure compliance with office policies and clinical protocols
Clinical Responsibilities
- Assist the doctor during dental procedures
- Take diagnostic digital radiographs
- Perform intraoral scanning using iTero technology
- Prepare and break down treatment rooms
- Maintain accurate patient records and charting
- Provide exceptional chairside support
- Educate patients on treatment recommendations and oral health
- Ensure all operatories are fully stocked and organized
Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee daily back office workflow and scheduling efficiency
- Manage sterilization protocols and infection control standards
- Monitor clinical inventory and place supply orders as needed
- Coordinate laboratory cases and ensure timely follow-up
- Assist with treatment presentation and case acceptance
- Support communication between the front and back office teams
- Maintain OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC compliance standards
- Troubleshoot workflow issues and identify areas for improvement
Qualifications
Required
- Active California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license or RDAEF certification
- Current CPR certification
- Minimum 3 years of dental assisting experience
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures, terminology, and treatment planning
- Experience taking digital radiographs and using intraoral scanners
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
Preferred
- Previous leadership, lead assistant, or management experience
- Experience with Dentrix or similar dental software
- Invisalign and iTero experience
- Knowledge of scheduling efficiencies and production goals
- Experience training and mentoring team members

Schedule
- Full-time
- Tuesday–Friday
- Two Saturdays each month
- Some flexibility available based on practice needs
