Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Apprentice Painter to join our team. This role supports the Foreman and crew in preparing job sites and completing residential and commercial painting projects safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. The Apprentice will gain hands-on experience in surface preparation, coating application, equipment use, and job site safety while working primarily in the field.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and clean job sites before and after projects
- Protect floors, furniture, and surfaces using drop cloths, masking tape, and protective coverings
- Wash, sand, scrape, patch, and fill cracks or holes to prepare surfaces for painting
- Apply primers, sealers, paint, stain, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and sprayers
- Assist with interior and exterior painting projects
- Operate, clean, and maintain painting tools and equipment (brushes, rollers, sprayers, ladders, scaffolding, etc.)
- Remove old paint and finishes using proper techniques
- Set up ladders and scaffolding as needed to complete work safely
- Follow all safety procedures and attend required safety training
- Read and understand work orders and supervisor instructions
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Support the Foreman and crew to complete projects on schedule
- Communicate professionally with team members and customers
Requirements
- High school diploma or trade school completion preferred
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
- Basic math skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders and scaffolding)
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong understanding of job site safety and hazard awareness
- Basic knowledge of painting tools and materials preferred but not required
- Professional appearance (white pants, company shirt, closed-toe shoes/boots)
Pay: $21.60 - $24.42 per hour
Experience:
- Construction painting: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
