Job Summary
The Accounting Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations while also contributing hands-on technical accounting expertise. The Accounting Lead ensures accurate financial records, supports strategic decision-making, strengthens internal controls, and helps scale accounting processes as the organization grows.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Financial Operations & Close Process
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Manage the process of project billing, including the knowledge of progress billing, pay applications, and AIA billing documentation for general contractors and project owners
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and automation
- Help implement and optimize ERP/accounting systems
- Create and document accounting procedures and best practices
Leadership & Team Support
- Supervise, support, and coach accounting staff
- Review work completed by accounting staff to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate contract billing, lien waiver tracking, change orders, and collections management
- Serve as a key point of contact for accounting-related questions and escalations
- Assist in prioritizing workload and managing deadlines across the accounting function
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills. Sage Intacct experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Education & Experience
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior-level accounting responsibilities
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred in accounting

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
