At Parker Supports, we believe every individual deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. We are seeking compassionate, dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Ormond Beach, FL area.
This is an in-home and community-based position where services are provided in an individual's personal home and throughout the community.
Position Requirements
- Must be available to work on-call respite shifts as needed.
- Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is strongly preferred.
- Experience with G-tube (gastrostomy tube) care is preferred. Candidates must be willing and able to complete agency training to recognize G-tube concerns and respond appropriately, including following established protocols if a G-tube becomes dislodged or requires immediate attention.
Previous experience as a DSP, Caregiver, Home Health Aide (HHA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Personal Care Assistant (PCA), Companion, Group Home Staff, or similar direct care role is encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care, supervision, and support in the home and community.
- Assist individuals with daily living activities while promoting independence, dignity, safety, and inclusion.
- Build positive relationships with individuals served and their support teams.
- Implement individualized support plans and assist individuals in reaching personal goals.
- Monitor and respond appropriately to G-tube-related concerns according to agency training, policies, and care plans.
- Administer medications according to agency policies and applicable requirements.
- Complete accurate daily documentation, case notes, and progress updates.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of direct care experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or comparable experience preferred.
- Ability to pass a Level II Federal Background Screening and pre-employment drug screening.
- Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record (if transporting individuals).
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Ability to complete all required Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) trainings.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
