This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of the City’s traffic signal systems, directly influencing traffic flow and public safety. Signal Electricians perform highly skilled electrical work, including the maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of traffic signals, controllers, and related equipment. Work is performed both in the field and in the shop, often in fast-paced and dynamic environments. The position includes weekly on-call rotations and responsibilities during snow removal operations, offering opportunities to demonstrate critical problem-solving skills under varying conditions. Compensation will be based on individual experience and determined at hire based on skills. The salary range for this position is $29.69– 35.29 hourly. Required Experience and Training

One year of training or experience in either electrical troubleshooting with solid-state electronics and systems diagnostics, or the installation and maintenance of traffic signals and related structures.

Ability to obtain a valid Class A CDL with an air brake and tanker endorsement within 60 days of employment. If you are a Canadian or Mexican citizen, you will be required to have or obtain a CDL from your home country.

A valid driver’s license

Ability to obtain and maintain International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA)Level I certification within 1 years of employment.

Ability to obtain and maintain IMSA Level II certification within 2 years of employment.

Ability to obtain a Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD) Journeyman Electrical Trade certificate prior to completion of 4 years of employment.

Ability to obtain IMSA Level III certification upon completing five years of active employment within the Traffic Signal Section, following successful completion of IMSA Level I and II certifications and a journeyman electrician certificate.

Attainment of passing scores on pre-employment tests. Candidates with the required experience and training will be required to take the following assessments:
