JOB This position is located within the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, and may be based in Carson City or Las Vegas, Nevada, depending on the selected candidate. The position reports to a Project Manager III and is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of capital improvement and construction projects. Key responsibilities include developing project scopes and budgets; negotiating and administering architectural and engineering (A/E) contracts; and preparing, reviewing, and approving plans, specifications, estimates, and contract documents in alignment with approved budgets. The incumbent will coordinate bid documents with regulatory and administrative agencies, oversee bidding procedures and bid openings, and provide administrative and fiscal oversight of construction contracts, including the review of change orders and progress payments. Additionally, the position ensures adherence to established project budgets and delivers engineering design services for assigned in-house projects.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Architect is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Any person licensed as a Professional Engineer or Architect in another jurisdiction must become licensed in Nevada within 12 months following the date of appointment. Three years of the experience required for licensure must have included design and/or management of major construction projects and/or capital improvement programs involving the construction of public buildings, office complexes, and other structures.
