Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and slicers
- Follow food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures to ensure a clean and safe work environment
- Assist with meal assembly, plating, and garnishing to ensure visually appealing dishes
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen tools through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and meet service timelines
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant kitchens is highly preferred
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and food preparation methods
- Knowledge of safety standards in food production and food safety management practices
- Experience with dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with special dietary needs
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members
- Culinary experience including cooking techniques, recipe adherence, and meal preparation is essential
- Familiarity with catering operations or large-scale food production is advantageous
