Description: About King University Founded in 1867, King University is a comprehensive Christian university located in Bristol, Tennessee. King is dedicated to providing students with a rich and rigorous academic experience that integrates faith, learning, and service in a close-knit, student-centered community. The Assistant Director of Career Services provides individual career counseling, internship/co-op, job-search assistance, and grad school-search advising to students and alumni; develops and presents workshops on a variety of career-related topics; and creates and maintains positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The assistant director also assists with planning and implementing career-related events and initiatives and manages the marketing and social media initiatives of the office as well as the career services website. Finally, this position will hire, train, and supervise a team of career services student employees.
Minimum Qualifications: • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in higher education, career development and/or job-search counseling, or in a closely related area. Demonstrated student advocacy experience with proven ability to work with a diverse population. • Education: A master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field is required. • Technology Skills: Social media proficient (or willing to pursue proficiency), experience with Handshake (or similar), Canvas (or similar), and Microsoft Office Suite (or similar). • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, polished presentation skills, and the ability to build and maintain rapport with career services constituents. • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership, initiative, strong organizational, human relations, and management skills are required; the ability to manage multiple projects, as well as interact successfully and comfortably with a variety of constituencies is essential. • Miscellaneous Professional Skills: Excellent project follow-through ability; teambuilding skills focused on student interaction/relationships; analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills; and a positive attitude with a sense of humor. • Level of Independence: High level of ability to work independently and able to prioritize the work. • Schedule Flexibility: Be able to work some evenings and weekends as required. • Physical Exertion Requirements: Light Work as defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. • Driving History: Must qualify to drive a university vehicle. • Procedures Commitment: The candidate must adhere to all King University policies as detailed for all employees in the Employee Handbook or specifically per any department, such as Admissions, Business Office, Financial Aid, etc. • Christian Commitment: The candidate must have and be able to articulate a personal faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ and support the mission of King University

Responsibilities: In addition to providing comprehensive career services, the Assistant Director will also develop and present workshops, assist with planning and implementing special events, manage career services social media initiatives, and coordinate the career services student employee program (hire, train, and supervise career services student employees).
