Job Title : Truck Driver
Job Description :
Responsible for transporting goods from one location to another using heavy or tractor trailer trucks. Operates trucks with a large load capacity. Able to load trucks via forklift.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver goods while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states
- Load and unload cargo
- Record amount and type of commodity being delivered, completely fill out shipping paperwork
- Take orders for new delivers
- Day trips within 150 miles of the plant
- Comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements when operating truck and trailer
- Ensure that fuel/fluid levels are full/adequate, lights operate properly and windows/mirrors are free of obstructions
- Report to a supervisor any incidents encountered on the road
- Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion
- Follow all applicable traffic laws
- Inspect their trailer before and after the trip, and record any defects they find
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs
- Keep a log of their activities and miles travelled
- Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
- Keep their truck, trailer and associated equipment clean and in good working order
- Ensure trailer is properly cleaned prior to accepting new products
- When at dock, prepare truck for loading (opening/closing door, placing ramp, choking wheels)
- Take special precautions while driving
- Pre-trip inspections of truck
- Follow all company policies, safety, haz-mat, etc
- Report all accidents, violations and repairs to management immediately
Job Requirements : * Class A CDL Drivers License
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record
- High School diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Able to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
- Able to work occasional overtime when necessary
- Able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds
- Helps fulfil government compliance requirements
- Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation drivers
- Positive attitude
