The Police Officer performs a wide range of law enforcement duties to protect life and property, enforce laws and regulations, and support the safety and well‑being of the Dillon and Keystone communities. The position involves proactive patrols, responding to calls for service, conducting criminal and traffic investigations, preparing detailed reports, and participating in community‑oriented policing. Officers must exercise sound judgment, operate vehicles and equipment safely in all conditions, and work effectively with the public, partner agencies, and Town staff.

High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in a related field highly preferred

Minimum age 21

Colorado P.O.S.T. certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire

Valid Colorado driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred

CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain

Previous law enforcement or related experience highly preferred

Fluent verbal and written communication in English

Knowledge of proper firearm use and safe operation of police vehicles and equipment

Ability to work effectively with the public in challenging situations

Ability to pass a comprehensive background check

Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including working outdoors, lifting/moving up to 100 lbs occasionally, and performing duties requiring mobility, coordination, and visual acuity
