JOB The Woodcraft Manager supports the Director of Woodcraft in the day-to-day operations of Woodcraft, including the management of students. This position is first and foremost a teaching position. Development and implementation of an educational curriculum focused on product design, conceptual storytelling, and technical skills appropriate to the craft area is primary. As an active design and production environment, the Manager has responsibility for student education in technical processes, design, as well as supporting the Director with necessary production schedules to meet budgetary requirements. The Manager must learn to understand and implement standard OSHA safety regulations and guides the safe flow of work. The Manager is directly involved in the design of new items. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Primary responsibility is the education and development of students in Woodcraft

Develops and enacts educational curriculum to ensure student learning

Maintenance and repair of equipment

Follows OSHA guidelines for safety in workshop

Aids campus community in special projects/needs as requested or appropriate

In support of Berea College’s great commitments this position requires student supervision. The fourth great commitment is to promote learning and serving in community through the student labor program, honoring the dignity and utility of all work, mental and manual, and taking pride in work well done. The Supervision would include scheduling, assigning and approving work performed. Developing students about common workplace acumen and giving them tangible work experience is an expected outcome.
