Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Location Manager to lead operations at our Blacksburg moving company branch. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of daily moving operations, including scheduling and completing residential and commercial moves, managing moving crews, driving sales growth, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining operational efficiency. You will be responsible for recruiting, training, and developing movers and drivers while fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and manage moving crews, drivers, office staff, and sales personnel to achieve operational and customer service goals.
- Oversee daily moving operations, including scheduling jobs, dispatching crews and trucks, coordinating logistics, and ensuring successful move completion.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop movers, drivers, and support staff to maintain a high-performing team.
- Ensure all moves are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and customer expectations.
- Monitor crew performance, conduct evaluations, and provide coaching and accountability to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage truck fleet utilization, equipment maintenance schedules, and inventory of moving supplies, packing materials, and equipment.
- Develop and implement local sales and marketing strategies to increase bookings, grow market share, and improve profitability.
- Handle customer concerns and resolve service issues promptly to maintain exceptional customer satisfaction and online reviews.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residential customers, commercial clients, real estate professionals, apartment communities, and local business partners.
- Identify opportunities to expand services, increase repeat business, and strengthen the company's presence in the local market.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven management experience, preferably in the moving, transportation, logistics, home services, or related industries.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and maintain high performance in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience hiring, training, scheduling, and managing field-based employees.
- Knowledge of moving operations, logistics coordination, fleet management, or service-based business operations preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage labor, equipment, and operational resources efficiently.
- Strong business development and sales skills with a focus on customer acquisition and revenue growth.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in time-sensitive situations.
- Experience managing inventory, equipment, and operational assets.
- Project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple moving jobs and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong customer service mindset with excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Knowledge of process improvement strategies to enhance productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency with scheduling software, CRM systems, and standard business applications.
