Defiance Machine is seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator who is excited about working in the firearms industry and prefers to work the evening shift (4 days a week, 10 hours a day, Monday-Thursday 3pm to 1am).
Defiance Machine is considered the largest manufacturer of custom rifle actions and prides itself on the quality of its work and the customization of its options. The Defiance team works together to strive to be better by design, embodying the concept of defying mediocrity to achieve more.
As a member of the Defiance production team, the operator would perform CNC machine work to manufacture rifle actions on a daily basis, filling other roles and receiving cross training in other areas as needed.
Each Operator is trained to understand what matters most when it comes to manufacturing a high quality Defiance action. You will become part of a team that takes quality and care seriously.
This position would work from our facility in Columbia Falls, MT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and Run CNC Machines: Place raw materials in the machine and start the pre-defined program required
- Watch Work: Check that speeds and feeds are correct while the machine cuts
- Check Quality: Measure finished parts with tools like calipers and micrometers
- Change Tools: Swap out worn or broken cutting parts as needed
- Test product as it comes off of machine for function and performance
- Record quality data and report any defects to supervisors
- Keep a clean and safe workspace
Job Requirements:
- Must be willing and able to work the full second shift (Monday - Thursday, 3pm to 1am)
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to pass a background check and legally be allowed to handle firearms
- Must be able to pass drug screening checks
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- CNC Machine work experience required
- Experience with firearms and/or hunting preferred, but not required
- Experience working in the firearms industry is preferred, but not required
