POSITION: Head Start Family Services Provider-Two Positions!

REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Director
EVALUATION: Evaluations conducted as defined in West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5310 and BCBOE Policy 3250.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
CONTRACT: 200-day contract

QUALIFICATIONS:

Early Childhood Education Degree and certification, social work degree, or behavioral services degree.

Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.

Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.

Perform the job duties set forth below.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Family Services Provider will coordinate, plan, and assist in providing social services to Head Start children and families in accordance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Actively recruit eligible Head Start children for the program and maintain enrollment.

Provide and coordinate parent trainings for parent groups.

Serve as a family service liaison between families and Head Start.

Maintain detailed data on academic, attendance, social, and health services for families.

Coordinate recruitment of children for Head Start and provide social services to families.
-
Complete at least two home visits a year with assigned families and development and maintain family goals;
-
Collaborate with HS management team to coordinate parent trainings, meetings, and activities;
-
Maintain information on available community resources and make appropriate referrals to assure delivery of needed services.

Assist Head Start coach with training for Head Start.

Assist classroom teachers with supplies; complete requisitions;
-
Attend monthly policy council meetings;
-
Assist HS coach with parent training activities in accordance with the training calendar.

Plan and present staff and parent training to ensure compliance with all program standards;
-
Assist in collection of health, dental and social services data. Maintain database of information.
-
Complete timely reports to director on self-assessment, community assessment, and other progress towards HS goals.

Aid families in meeting dental, medical and social service needs when families are unable to do on their own.

Coordinate social service referrals and provide follow-ups in social service areas for Head Start families.

Collaborate with DHHR.

Coordinate and plan volunteer luncheons and programs for students and families;

Research by reviewing regulatory bulletins and other sources of information;
-
Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information;

Enter HSFIS data. Gather, compile, and enter information for PIR.

Work collaboratively with Head Start coach to plan and present bus safety training, center committee activities, monthly newsletter and parent/family engagement calendars;

Plan culminating activities for classrooms and volunteers;
-
Maintain professional technical knowledge by attending relevant trainings as well as relevant workshops;

Attend in-state and out-of-state meetings as required by director;
-
Travel county and work a flexible schedule such as required for participation at workshops;

Meet with HS director at least monthly;
-
Assist with HS enrollment procedures; and
-
Other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Director or Superintendent of Schools

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or printed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
The duties of this job require the employee to drive to and from various schools throughout Braxton County. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are the representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Most commonly, the educational setting is indoors with outdoor settings for recess and filed trip activities. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60 dB). Exceptions include gymnasiums as well as vocational/technical laboratories where the noise levels may be moderate to loud (60-90 dB).
