Our client is looking for an Safety Manager who is responsible for supporting the day-to-day safety functions of the Delivery Service Partner (DSP) operation.
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of workplace safety, injury management, vehicle accident investigations, workers' compensation, and claims administration. This role is instrumental in reducing workplace injuries, minimizing vehicle accidents, controlling claim costs, and fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is highly visible in daily operations, responds quickly to incidents, coaches employees in the field, and uses data to identify trends and implement continuous improvements. This position requires excellent communication skills, sound judgment, strong investigative abilities, and the confidence to hold all levels of the organization accountable for maintaining a safe work environment.
Safety Leadership
- Lead and promote a company-wide culture of safety and accountability.
- Conduct daily launch pad safety walks and engage with employees before routes begin.
- Deliver safety stand-ups, toolbox talks, and monthly safety meetings.
- Develop and implement proactive safety initiatives to reduce injuries and vehicle accidents.
- Recognize and celebrate safety milestones and periods with zero injuries or vehicle accidents.
Incident & Accident Management
- Manage every employee injury from initial report through claim closure.
- Lead all vehicle accident investigations from start to finish.
- Respond to incident scenes immediately whenever practical.
- Conduct thorough root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all incidents.
- Coach drivers following preventable accidents and identify opportunities for improvement.
Workers' Compensation & Claims Administration
- Coordinate all workers' compensation claims.
- Manage automobile liability claims and insurance reporting.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company, insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, and medical providers.
- Review claim reserves with insurance carriers to ensure appropriate claim management.
- Monitor claim progress and aggressively follow up to facilitate timely resolution.
- Coordinate return-to-work and modified-duty programs.
- Identify and document potential fraudulent claims while maintaining professionalism and compliance.
Employee Support
- Build positive relationships with injured employees while protecting the organization's interests.
- Coordinate medical appointments, treatment plans, and return-to-work expectations.
- Ensure employees receive appropriate support throughout the recovery process.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Monitor safety metrics, claim trends, and operational performance.
- Utilize AI-powered dashboards and reporting tools to analyze data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports for leadership.
- Recommend corrective actions based on trends and operational data.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, workers' compensation regulations, and company safety policies.
- Coordinate post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
- Obtain and maintain applicable certifications related to drug and alcohol testing, if required.
- Maintain accurate safety and claim documentation.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience managing workplace safety, risk management, workers' compensation, or insurance claims.
- Strong knowledge of accident investigation techniques and root-cause analysis.
- Experience coordinating return-to-work and modified-duty programs.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, medical providers, and insurance professionals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Ability to analyze trends using dashboards and reporting tools.
Preferred
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
- Experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, warehouse, or delivery operations.
- Experience working with insurance carriers and third-party administrators.
- Drug and Alcohol Testing Certification (or willingness to become certified).
- Experience utilizing AI tools for reporting, analytics, and operational improvements.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
