POSITION SUMMARY
Orange County Music & Dance is seeking engaging instructors to join our Dance Discovery faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. We are looking for educators who are passionate about introducing students to the joy of dance while building strong technical foundations, confidence, creativity, and performance skills in a supportive environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach age-appropriate dance classes for students ages 2–18 in styles such as ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, musical theatre, creative movement, and/or other assigned disciplines.
- Create engaging, structured lesson plans that promote technical development, creativity, confidence, and a love of dance.
- Develop students' coordination, musicality, flexibility, strength, movement quality, and performance skills.
- Choreograph routines and prepare students for class demonstrations, showcases, performances, and special events as assigned.
- Adapt instruction to accommodate varying ages, skill levels, learning styles, and developmental needs.
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to support each student's artistic growth and achievement.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment where students feel supported and motivated to learn.
- Communicate professionally with students, families, staff, and supervisors regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Maintain classroom safety standards and promote proper technique, body awareness, and injury prevention.
- Take attendance and maintain accurate class records as required by OC Music & Dance.
- Attend required staff meetings, performances, professional development opportunities, and program events as assigned.
- Serve as a positive role model who reflects the mission, values, and professional standards of OC Music & Dance.
- Assist with student retention by building positive relationships with students and families.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional performance, choreography, and/or teaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of one or more dance styles.
- Experience teaching multiple age groups and ability levels preferred.
- Experience working with young children, elementary, and middle school students preferred.
- Experience preparing students for performances and showcases preferred.
- Degree or professional training in Dance preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Ability to pass a Live Scan background check.
The ideal candidate will have flexible availability. Most classes are scheduled onsite Monday through Friday during after-school hours and on Saturdays.

Orange County Music & Dance (OCMD) is a nonprofit performing arts school located in Irvine, California. Our mission is to nurture, inspire, and empower students of all ages through high-quality music, dance, and musical theatre education. OCMD offers a wide range of programs, including Early Childhood classes, private music instruction, Dance Discovery, ensembles, world music experiences, adult programs, and pre-conservatory and conservatory training pathways.
