Position Summary
Premier Youth Symphony & Arts is seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time String Orchestra Instructor to lead weekly after-school orchestra rehearsals for students of varying skill levels. The instructor will follow an established curriculum and rehearsal plan while creating a positive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead weekly string orchestra rehearsals.
- Teach proper instrumental technique, ensemble performance, rhythm, intonation, and musicianship.
- Prepare students for concerts and public performances.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, and confidence through orchestral training.
- Maintain effective classroom management.
- Communicate professionally with program leadership regarding student progress.
- Arrive prepared and on time for rehearsals and performances.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Experience teaching violin, viola, cello, and/or double bass.
- Experience leading youth string ensembles or orchestra rehearsals.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Passion for working with children and youth.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training or teaching experience within El Sistema or another ensemble-based youth orchestra program is highly desirable.
- Suzuki or equivalent string pedagogy experience is a plus.
- Ability to inspire students while maintaining high artistic and educational standards.

Schedule
- Approximately one afternoon per week.

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
