What expectations will I serve as an Assistant Educator?
As an Assistant Educator, you will work side-by-side with fellow educators, students, and families to provide a calming, nurturing, exhilarating, fun-filled home away from home for students in our care, according to DCF and NAEYC guidelines.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Ensure the safety and supervision of students, aged from 6 weeks – 10 years in one assigned educational environment.
- Assist Lead Educators with creating developmentally appropriate lessons that align with our curriculum and in accordance with NAEYC standards.
- Assist Lead Educators with curating programs and activities based on the students' interests and learning styles.
- Maintain a warm, safe, and homey environment that is clean and allows students to grow, engage, and explore.
- Partner with Lead Educators and families to create plans to provide the best care and education for their student(s).
- Provide effective communication with parents/guardians about their student(s) through the use of our communication app as well as conversations during drop off and pick up times.
- Attend Educator Meetings outside of work hours.
- Observe and document students' abilities within the educational environment.
- Attend ongoing training to meet and keep educational regulations up to date.
- Overtime may be required from time to time, along with evening and weekend hours.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- 45 state-mandated training hours
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education/related field OR Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (preferred)
- 1+ years of experience in a licensed childcare facility (preferred)
- If previously employed in child care, state-mandated annual hours must be up to date
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and remain organized
- Ability to work within regular operating hours
- Must meet state criteria for childcare employment
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred)
- No pending or past arrest record
- Reliable transportation
- Must be able to kneel, squat, stoop, lift.
- Must be able to engage in activities including, but not limited to, dancing, jumping, walking, running, skipping, and hopping.
