Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Behavior Specialist, the Registered Behavior Technician will provide direct support in a day program setting working with clients who display minimal, infrequent to significant challenging behaviors. The ideal candidate will provide support to clients in a classroom setting through de-escalation techniques and intervention. You will be creating activities for clients engaging with them individually and in small groups and documenting any changes in behaviors. We are looking for someone to implement positive reinforcement strategies to encourage progress in the behaviors of our clients.
Essential Functions Include, but not Limited to:
- Maintain a collaborative classroom environment with other RBTs while reinforcing instruction for clients with mild to severe behaviors individually and in small groups
- Respond to behavioral emergencies through approved de-escalation and crisis management techniques
- Apply Behavior Intervention Plans developed by the BCBA supervisor for clientele
- Create schedules and activities for small group and classroom participation
- Implement behavior therapy techniques such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Gather and summarize data on client behavior, including interventions and behavior assessments
- Follow ethical guidelines outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Assist clients with physical, medical, and/or personal hygiene needs including but not limited to monitoring of medical conditions, administering medications, lifting, dressing, feeding, toileting/diapering;
- Create clients annual IPP goals with the support of the Behavior Specialist and BCBA.
- Update Behavior Specialist, BCBA, client families, and other entities on client progress.
- Provide daily transportation for clients in the Behavior Management Program, and other facility clients as assigned.
- Attend all department meetings regarding client programming.
- Immediately report any witnessed, suspected, or reported client abuse or neglect under the mandated reporting requirements.
- Provide coverage in other groups, classrooms, or departments as assigned;
- Ensure the safety and welfare of clients and report any accidents, incidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions to management;
- Ensure Client’s Personal Rights are maintained at all times;
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
- Obtain knowledge of, and implement emergency and disaster plans;
- Other functions as assigned to meet agency standards, practices, policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Must have an active certification as a "Registered Behavior Technician" (RBT) and remain certified throughout the scope of employment.
- 2 years prior experience working in behavior management directly with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and significant Behavior Modification Strategies.
Additional Preferred
- Experience working with Adults with Developmental Disabilities.
Compensation and Schedule:
- $28-$30 per hour
- 40 hours per week, M-F, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Good manual dexterity for assisting participants and completing program tasks.
- Safely supervise and support participants during community activities.
