inequality that holds back working families. One Pennsylvania is seeking an Community Outreach Specialist to help support our electoral and organizing programs.
The Community Outreach Specialist is a permanent position starting March 1, 2026. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, deep knowledge of the city, its neighborhoods and the issues working people face as well as a commitment to change the injustices working people face. During election season, Outreach Associates will also be responsible for managing a small group of temporary staff and or a small group of volunteers. They will report to our Community Outreach Lead.
Daily door-to-door canvassing, street outreach, and phone banking.
Persuade and mobilize people to get involved in the voting process, elections and One PA chapters and campaigns.
Identify people on the doors who are interested in getting involved and can be a potential leader. Make accurate assessments of their interest, connection to the issues we organize around and potential leadership. Throughout the year, outreach associates will be responsible for following up with previous contacts to organize them to One PA campaigns and events.
Become proficient at deep canvassing - sharing a story, making a real connection on a personal and emotional level, listening, asking thoughtful questions that connect back to the political moment or campaign
Through active listening, associates will collect stories and detailed notes from conversations.
Build positive relationships with community residents and potential One PA members as well as other outreach team members.
Meet all daily goals and metrics.
Support leads with training and development of temporary staff and volunteers.
Effectively use technology and other tools to ensure accurate and timely data entry.
Participate and complete all required training and workshops.
Demonstrated commitment to racial, economic and social justice
Previous canvassing, organizing or community service experience a plus.
Strong communication and listening skills.
Must be comfortable working and traveling in different neighborhoods throughout the city.
Must have excellent people skills; must be comfortable engaging and connecting with people you meet on doors or phones.
Must be able to work well in a team setting and be comfortable leading when called to
Must be able to work well with people from all different backgrounds.
Ability to learn and discuss the work of One PA including our mission and campaigns.
Must be self-motivated and able to make pivots when needed.
Must be able and willing to walk for long distances outside in a variety of weather elements.
Licensed and Insured driver preferred
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
At least 18 years old;
Comfortable walking or standing for extended periods of time;
Comfortable working outside and in different weather conditions;
Must have transportation to various work sites around your assigned office;
Must have a working smartphone; and be Tech Savvy
Willingness to collaborate with diverse teams, personalities and expectations.
Must be a people person, not afraid to approach people.
