Duties

Monitor and initiate the destruction and/or the rejection of security credentials; reports discrepancies and identifies failed production materials and customer concerns to Lead.
Verify quality of secure credentials using sampling inspection techniques; monitor quality of the product, looking for defects and implements more intensive product inspections.
Receive and record samples of returned secure credentials suspected to be defective.
Record findings on approved forms and enter information in the appropriate electronic databases.
Receive, monitor, and record manufacturing floor waste from Federal agencies for inspection.
Interpret and apply product specifications, technical data, regulations, and other guideline materials to interpret and classify secure credential defects etc.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Document Inspection Technician, PU (PG) -1801-7, you must meet the following requirements:

Applicant must have 1 year of specialized experience at the PU/PG-05 (or equivalent) level or higher.

Specialized experience:
Interpreting and applying product specifications, technical data, regulations, and other guideline materials to interpret and classify secure credential defects; inspecting equipment and tools, including barcode equipment; visually inspecting secure credentials for defects; applying basic math to perform measurements and distinguish colors; entering data in an electronic database to record/track findings accurately; experience working in a production environment and/or quality control environment.

OR

1 full year of graduate level education - One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.

OR

I have a combination of education and experience. The total percentages equal at least 100 percent.

OR

Superior academic achievement (SAA) is a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement for two-grade interval positions in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position.

S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

Class standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.

Grade-point average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of:3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2years of the curriculum.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (08/12/2026) to be considered.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may be used for this grade level.

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a Secret clearance. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a Secret clearance. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs; this security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months.

GPO will conduct an interim security clearance, pending the completion of the full investigative requirements for the final Secret clearance. The interim security clearance will be granted based on the favorable completion of preliminary checks that are accomplished as part of the security clearance process. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer if the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.

The selectee will work on shift 1 and shift 3.

Shift 1: 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, Monday- Thursday, 4-10 hours days
Shift 3: 9:00 pm- 7:30 am, Monday- Thursday, 4-10 hours days
