Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Day Program Instructor, where you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve their personal goals and live fulfilling lives. In this energetic and rewarding position by engaging in outside community activities, providing support and care while promoting independence, social skills, and community integration, which no matter what, we all are entitled to.
Duties
- Start the day by driving company provided insured vehicle to pick up a small group of 1:3 participants at their home in the Redwood City to Daly City area.
- Continue drive to daily activities while leading, engaging and doing activities alongside participants in the community. Some of the activities are enjoying public parks, libraries, beach days, shopping to learn to budget money, volunteering at food banks and farms, Gym and yoga classes, sports games, baking, tech days, all hand in hand enhancing life skills.
- As the day goes on you will report participants progress and engagement level to understand if daily goals are being met.
- Continue driving and return participants home.
- Facilitate communication, Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
- Document daily activities, behavioral observations, and incident reports accurately for ongoing assessment and reporting.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism in educational or community settings.
- Strong understanding of special education principles and inclusive practices.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to use American Sign Language if needed.
- Knowledge of behavioral health concepts and behavior management techniques to support positive development.
- Home & community care experience demonstrating caregiving skills in real-world settings.
- Ability to assist with ADLs effectively while promoting independence and dignity.
- Valid driver’s license with a a minimum of 5 years driving experience and clean driving record.
- Compassionate caregiving approach combined with patience, flexibility, and active listening skills.
- Experience in data collection related to social work or behavioral health interventions is preferred.
- Certification in First Aid, CPR is a plus. We will also provided certification if needed.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
