Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including gathering medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
- Support physicians during procedures, including medication administration, wound care, or minor surgical tasks.
- Operate and maintain EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems to document patient information securely and efficiently.
- Conduct basic diagnostic procedures such as X-ray imaging or specimen collection when trained and authorized.
- Manage medical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and ensure clinical areas are clean and organized for safety compliance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in inpatient, outpatient, emergency medicine, or specialized units like Geriatrics or PICU to deliver seamless patient care.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding for accurate documentation and billing support.
- Experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and medical administrative support tasks such as appointment scheduling and patient follow-up.
- Ability to perform intake assessments, take vital signs accurately, and assist with medication administration within scope of practice.
- Familiarity with medical-surgical procedures, inpatient care protocols, or clinic operations enhances effectiveness in this role.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric intensive care units (PICU).
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
