American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg travel contract in Nebraska, working 12-hour night shifts in an acute care hospital setting.

Acute care hospital Med/Surg unit with 42 beds
-
Patient population includes medical, surgical, and orthopedic cases
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6; ratios of 1:6 occur at least once per week

Nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 1:10–12 ratio
-
Heparin drips are used; no other titratable drips on the unit
-
Telemetry monitoring is available on the floor with a centralized tele station

Respiratory therapy is available 24 hours on the floor

Charge nurse present on each shift and takes their own patient assignment

12-hour night shifts (1830–0700)

Weekend coverage required as needed

Holiday coverage required as needed

No on-call or standby requirement

Floating may be required to PCU or Burn unit

Active NE state RN license or Compact (NLC) license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted

Current BLS certification required; pending certifications not accepted

Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify permanent residence is at least 50 miles from the facility

Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility — including CHI or Dignity — within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered)

Orientation consists of one week of classroom instruction followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor

A pass/fail open-book exam is administered on the Friday of orientation week; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass

Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination

Scrub color: navy blue

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; permanent address is verified via driver's license

RTO must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
